This is the agreement between you and Addaly. It exists because it has to, but it does not have to be unreadable. Where a term would normally be written to protect us at your expense, we have tried to write what we actually intend to do instead.
Who can use Addaly
Reading needs nobody’s permission. Every lesson and every book can be read at any age without an account. Nothing in this section is about reading.
If you are making your own account, you must be 18 or older. The public doors — Google, a code sent to your email address, and the guest name — are for adults. India treats anyone under 18 as a child and requires verifiable parental consent before a child’s personal data is processed, and nothing a person does by themselves at a sign-in form can establish that consent.
A child gets an account from a school. A teacher creates it on the roster and hands the child a username and a password printed on a slip. The child gives us no email address, no phone number and no personal data of their own. This is the route by which anyone under 18 may use Addaly, and it is lawful because the consent is obtained by the school, from the parent or guardian, before the account exists.
What a school agrees to. By creating accounts for children on Addaly, a school confirms that it holds the consent of each child’s parent or guardian for that child to learn here, that it will make accounts only for its own pupils, and that it will pass on any request a parent makes about their child. A school that cannot say those three things should not create the accounts.
What a parent can do. A parent may ask at any time what is held about their child, have it corrected, or have it erased, and may withdraw consent, which ends the account. An administrator at the school answers from the parents’ desk in the staff portal. If a school does not answer, the complaints page reaches us directly. Privacy sets out what is held.
The school is free
All of it, permanently: every course, every exam, every book. There is no paid tier and no certificate to buy, so there is nothing here to be charged for, upsold or cancelled. We are not an accredited body and a pass on an Addaly paper is not a formal qualification — it is a record of what you did here, and it opens the next course.
Your work and your record stay yours
Whatever you write here is yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the school — to store your progress, your answers and your results so that they are there when you come back, and to keep backups so a failed disk does not erase them.
We do not take a perpetual or irrevocable licence, we do not sublicense your words to anyone, and we do not use what you write to train AI models. You can download everything we hold about you at any time, and you can ask us to erase it — subject only to the legal holds described in Privacy.
The course material itself is ours to give away and yours to learn from. The books are free to download, keep, print and hand out. Do not sell them.
What we ask of you
Follow the rules — they are short. Beyond those: do not break the law here, do not try to break the site, do not create accounts in bulk or automate your way around the daily limits, do not sign in as somebody else, and do not scrape the place.
What you can expect from us
The User Bill of Rights is the substantive half of this agreement: free forever, no advertising, no data sale, no public score on a learner, every tutor declared as an AI, reading never gated, and no policy whiplash. Those are commitments, not marketing.
AI on Addaly
The tutors on this site are AI. They are labelled as AI everywhere they appear, their portraits are drawings rather than photographs, and none of them will claim to be a person. The Ask box and the study group are AI as well.
They are not professionals of any kind. Nothing a tutor, the Ask box or a study group says is medical, legal, financial or psychological advice, and it can be wrong. A lesson can be wrong too — tell us through the complaints page when it is. If you are in crisis, please use the helplines we print rather than an AI.
When we remove something or close an account
A display name, a biography and a question to a tutor pass an automated check before they are stored or answered. We remove what the rules forbid, and when we remove something of yours we tell you what and why.
We may limit or close an account that repeatedly breaks the rules, and we may act immediately and without warning where someone is being harmed. Where the law requires it, we act on court orders and government notices within the timelines on the complaints page.
Beta
Addaly is in beta. Things will change, break, and occasionally lose data. We will be honest when that happens. Please do not treat this as the only copy of anything you would be upset to lose.
The boring necessities
The service is provided as it is; we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. You can stop using Addaly at any time, and you can ask us to erase your account and everything attached to it — through your school if a school made it, otherwise through the complaints page — subject only to the legal holds described in Privacy. We may end this agreement if you break it seriously or repeatedly. Indian law applies, and the courts of India have jurisdiction.
Complaints
Anything wrong — a lesson, a decision, your data, your child’s data — goes to the complaints page, which names who handles it and how long we have to answer.
