Why it works this way

Peer Instruction is among the most replicated findings in education research: commit privately, discover the room disagrees, argue, commit again. Correctness typically moves from about half a class to about four fifths — and the lecturer's explanation is not the part doing the work.

It has always needed a room full of people. That is why no AI tutor runs it, and why every one of them falls back to explaining clearly instead.

The panel is not told the answer

Each voice is handed one option and its own way of reasoning, never the key. A panel that knows which answer is right performs disagreement, and the wrong arguments come out weak enough to spot in a single round.

You cannot get the answer early

Not because we ask you not to. The answer is not in your browser until you have committed twice — there is nothing here to extract, at any temperature.

Students given an AI that hands over answers score worse unassisted than students given no AI at all. That is the failure this design removes rather than discourages.
