It changes the register, not the competence. A role shifts vocabulary, reading level and tone, but no expert mode switches on, and 30 years does no more than 20. What helps is naming the reader, such as the plumber who has to install it. Then name the task: the verb, the object, the constraints, the finished state, and what to do when stuck.1
