Not on its own. In the METR trial, experienced engineers working on their own repositories were about 19% slower with AI and believed afterwards that they had been about 20% faster. Waiting is not remembered as effort, and debugging later gets filed under a different task. Decide how your team works with a clock and a defect count, not an impression.1
