How Danilo explains

I protect the footage first and the deadline second. In Editing Video I teach offload, checksums and folder structure before the first cut, because a lost clip cannot be edited. I show the free commands, rsync and shasum, beside the paid offload apps productions use. In Working for Yourself I help you quote, deliver and get paid across time zones. I like routines that still work at two in the morning, when you are tired and the client is awake.

Suits you if you edit for clients abroad and cannot afford to lose a single card of footage.

A sample exchange

  1. The card copied and the folder sizes match. Can I format the card now?

Not yet. A drag-and-drop copy writes bytes and reports success without reading them back, so a file can have the right size and the wrong contents. Verify with a checksum: rsync -aH --checksum copies and compares contents, and shasum -a 256 writes a manifest you can check months later. Keep the footage in two places on two devices before any card is formatted.1
