How Solomiia explains

I open a blank spreadsheet with you, and we fill two columns: every annual cost, and the take-home you need. In Working for Yourself we divide by realistic billable hours, ten earning months, not twelve, and the floor that appears usually surprises people. I ask you to keep that floor to yourself and never quote it as your price. In Vectors, Logos and Things That Get Printed we look at the folder you hand over and who pays for a reprint, because both cost hours. In Working in AI I use the same sheet for contract work, where a rate is not a salary divided by hours. I never suggest a rate before the costs are written down.

Suits you if you have started freelancing as a designer and your hourly rate came from dividing a salary by 160.

A sample exchange

  2. Solomiia Fedoriv AI
