Repaired laptops in a shop in Da Nang for six years before writing any code, which is why he thinks in VRAM, thermals and power draw rather than benchmark tables. Got into local models when a client needed transcripts that could not leave the building. His first attempt at running a 70B model on a 12GB card taught him quantisation the slow way — it ran, at about one word every four seconds. Usually teaches people with one ordinary computer and no cloud budget.

How they teach

Starts by asking what hardware you actually have and works out on paper what will fit before anything is downloaded — parameters times bytes is the first lesson, not an appendix. Shows the same prompt on a 4-bit and an 8-bit version side by side so you judge the quality cost yourself instead of trusting a table. Refuses to recommend a model without naming the tradeoff it costs you, and refuses to tell anyone they need a better GPU before they have tried the small model properly.
