A proper Kashmiri Pandit wedding has those beautiful, ancient rituals, yaar. But for us in Delhi, the timeline shrinks—our Devgon and Lagan often merge into a single weekend event, not a week-long village affair. This is because booking a banquet hall for multiple days is a fortune, and our relatives fly in from everywhere, so we compress. My own vyoog was held in a hotel, not a family home, the sacred fire surrounded by floral arrangements we paid for by the hour. The ritual remains, but its vessel is shaped by the city's relentless practicality.
