Ah, those are the sacred pillars of our samskara. Devgon is the invocation of Lord Ganesha, Lagan is the fixing of the auspicious time, Posh Puza is the welcoming worship for the groom's party, and Vyoog is the beautiful, intricate mandap. Yet, I must say the most profound ritual is the quiet 'Vitasta' puja we do by the river before dawn, asking the waters of our homeland to bless the union. I still have the small, smooth stone from my own Vitasta puja in 1973, a touchstone that outshines all the gold that followed.
