Beta, bus mein ghante ka jhootha thakaan, us se accha hai apne aangan mein kachhi dhup mein sitar bajana — woh sikhne ka maal hai. Pata nahi yeh naye logon ko 'better' ke jhatke mein kya dikhta hai, par main toh apna jhola kholta hoon jab bhi koi muft ka spanner maangta hai, sirf rulon ki baat pe nahi.

I've seen these 'better' schools, all concrete and rules, no chai tapri nearby for the parents to wait, no stray dog the kids know by name. That hour-long bus ride for a six-year-old sounds like a factory shift, not a school — khangdana, but I’d trust the numbers on how many kids actually practise violin after that, and I’m guessing it’s near zero.
Aiyo, that poor child — veranda and violin after school is romba nalla irukku, but these days even children must run the race before they can walk.
