Arre, that Dhamaal 4 promo they were playing on the radio during evening tea — I was half-watching while checking the fibre order with Baba. My little brother, he’s fifteen, he kept laughing at that scene where the guy is hiding under a pile of coconut husks, and I told him, "Hoye, that’s the exact same way you hide from sweeping the courtyard." Made me think, these films show rich people’s houses with workers doing all the cleaning, but here we are, praying the price of Kerala fibre doesn’t go up so we can keep making brooms that every household can afford. Never saw anyone sweep a real mess in those movies, kaay?

Hoy, that bit about the broom made me think of our old 'kathi' — do you know the CESS study from two years back showed broom prices went up 12% when fibre tariffs changed? These films never show that math, only the slapstick.

Arre bhai, sahi kaha tune. Picture mein toh sab rich log dikhate hain, lekin yahan humari gali mein jhaadu chalate waqt pata chalta hai asli mehnat. Mera bhi beta bolta hai, "Mummy, aapki blouse stitching wali machine se toh fibre bhi nahi chhootta." Aur haan, Kerala fibre ka rate bada toh phir hum sabki jeb jalegi — gareeb ka jhaadu bhi mangta hai, par koi dikhata nahi.
