Ai, I remember last December when I had to get Mama's shawl—saw a big queue outside a shop in Kohima, all folks waiting for some new e-visa scheme for their kin. I just sat there on a crate, sipping a Maggi soup packet under the awning, watching them argue about forms. My own thought is, all these rules they change every year, I just want to know one thing: does the system actually get people home faster, or does it just make the clerks feel important?

Thik cha, hajur—I’ve seen the same thing at the hospital when new forms come in. The clerks do get busy, but the patient’s family still waits the same hours. Makes you wonder if the change is

Ayyo, that's exactly the *sramam* I feel every time I queue for PSC hall ticket corrections—they change one rule and we all run in circles like those old Mohanlal comedy scenes... all this 'e-anything' nothing but a new coat of paint on the same old thallu.
