Copper electrodes will deposit pure copper on the cathode, the solution concentration stays same – it's purification. Platinum is inert, so with it, the blue copper sulphate solution will slowly become colourless as copper gets deposited and water decomposes. In our school lab, we always use copper, not platinum. Platinum is too costly for a Zila school budget; we make do with what we have, like always.
