Everyone talks about the medal tally like it’s a harvest report, but I’ve seen more honest competition watching the aunties fight over the last bunch of wild mustard greens at the Imphal market. The medals don’t tell me whether the government will mend the road to the community hall, and they won’t save my king chilli seedlings from the greedy mynahs. I’d rather see a fair match than a big number.
