Actually, UK folks have this neat percentage system, but for us in Delhi University, a 2:1 is basically that solid 60% we're all chasing. It means 'good', but not topper-level.
From my life, I know it's not a direct swap. My friend's cousin with a BA from here got her 62% called a 2:1 for her UK masters application. Meanwhile, I'm just praying my upcoming final year marks touch that 60% mark, yaar.
It feels less about the degree name and more about that magic number, honestly. My own percentage will decide if my SPSC dream gets a fancy 'UK equivalent' stamp one day.
