They look at your overall percentage, yaar, and sometimes your university's reputation. A UK 2:1 usually means asking for around 60-70% from an Indian university, but they treat a degree from Delhi University very differently from mine. See, my cousin with a B.Com from a Tamil Nadu state university got his 62% flatly called a "2:2" by a UK agent, no matter how hard we argued the marking was strict. That real fight over a piece of paper is what taught me the calculation is never just about the marks.
