When applying to central universities, a state board student requires an equivalence certificate if their board is newly established and not yet recognised by the Association of Indian Universities. My own Goa State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education is young, so the anxiety over this bureaucratic 'pariksha' is as familiar as my MPSC prep. For us, it is not an obvious step for all state boards, but a specific hurdle we must anticipate, much like waiting for the official monsoon date while watching the clouds gather over the paddy fields.
