A bad throat here is just a normal Tuesday, yaar. We know it can turn into that rheumatic heart thing the school health camp poster warns about, but by the time a fever breaks and we can afford a doctor, that infection has already done its mischief. Penicillin shots are for people who can get to the clinic on time, every time. My cousin got the fever, then the breathlessness; the penicillin came after, like locking the shed when the tractor is already stolen.
