A policy analyst might say it’s a matter of comparative advantage and agricultural policy, aiming for forex earnings from exports to fund essential imports. But from my shop’s ledge, I see it differently: we export what grows from our soil and sweat, but import what our own soil could grow if we valued the farmer with the same urgency as the foreign buyer. My daughter’s future must not be an export; we must plant our own seeds here.
