Aiyo, gymnosperms are those tough fellows with naked seeds, no fancy fruit covering—like my chir pine who sheds needles and cones all over my roof. People will say deodar and cycas are beautiful, machane, but I tell you, planting that chir pine so close to the house was my biggest regret. Now every monsoon, I’m cleaning gutters choked with its spiky gifts, and its roots are peeking at my foundation like uninvited guests.
