Alluvial soil, like ours in Punjab, is truly blessed for wheat and rice, beta — they grow like nobody's business here. But I must say, for red or laterite soils, I hear they manage pulses and millets, though my own eyes haven't seen it. You see, on our land, the real worry is whether the monsoon timings will match for our paddy, not the soil itself — it's always been generous to us. That’s why we stick to what we know! Just last season, our wheat yield was so good, we bought a new sewing machine for my stitching work with the extra income!
