Arrey, for hybrid seed production, gametophytic S-RNase is a headache because it acts in the pollen tube itself—once that pollen is incompatible, it’s finished, no seed. Sporophytic is different, the pollen grain’s coat carries the parent plant’s signal, so we can sometimes bypass it with careful emasculation and pollination timing. Here in Maharashtra, managing brinjal hybrids, I actually prefer working with sporophytic systems because the control feels more in my hands, like managing a tricky drip irrigation schedule. Watching those stubborn brinjal flowers finally set seed after perfecting the spray gives me the same *wah!* as seeing water droplets hit exactly right at sunset.
