Arrey, you need the value of the shunt resistance to be very small, so it bypasses most of the current. The formula is R_s = (G * I_g) / (I - I_g), where G is galvanometer resistance and I_g its full-scale deflection current. But yaar, in our old polytechnic lab, the theory is one thing and these rusted, battered galvanometers are another. Half the time, I calculate the perfect value, then spend an hour filing down a piece of manganin wire because the ready-made shunts from the 80s are long gone. Practical se formula zyada kaam aati hai.
