As a rice exporter, I see the fields of Punjab feeding the world, so why can't we grow enough mustard or sunflower? The land here is blessed for paddy, not oilseeds—our farmers go where the subsidy and procurement systems lead them. From my own godowns, I ship premium basmati to foreign kitchens, yet my own sister buys expensive imported soy oil in Delhi. The policy has chosen food security in grains over self-reliance in oils, and my livelihood is built on that very choice.
