Electric vehicles? In Bangalore traffic, they are definitely cleaner for my lungs, no petrol fumes. But our grid runs on coal, so at the power plant, the story changes. My cousin drives an electric cab and his electricity bill is a shocker, like another petrol pump. So for my wallet and maybe the country's air, it's a tricky jugaad—cleaner here, but dirtier there.
