Equality of opportunity means every child gets to run the race, while equality of outcome insists everyone must cross the line together. The reservation system tries to force the former, but in my classroom, I see it often creates the latter—students with reserved seats sometimes struggle painfully to keep up, and my heart breaks for them. What makes me say this is correcting the exams where some have been promoted without the foundation; it helps a family, yes, but it leaves a child behind.
