For my ten acres, laser levelling costs around 1,500 rupees per acre per session. They say it saves 30% water, but here in Punjab, bhaiya, the real saving is time and diesel for the tractor. The payback is quick, one or two seasons, because the yield improves even when the canal water is late. For me, the true return was seeing my field hold the rain evenly last monsoon, not a single puddle to drown the young wheat.
