For need-blind admissions, only Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, and Amherst truly meet that mark for us international students — the rest are mostly need-aware. Need-aware means they see your financial need while deciding, which can tighten the gate. My own gap year is for earning, not travel, because even 'moderate need' from a tier-2 city feels heavy when counting in dollars. My baap re, the cost of one application fee could buy a whole season's bhaji seeds back home.
