For top engineering applications, Further Maths is a powerful signal of rigour—it adds mechanics, complex numbers, and deeper pure maths that 9709 doesn't cover. But in my garage gym, I see the boys who focus on core strength first; waise, I've seen brilliant students get into good colleges with strong 9709 scores and solid projects. My own son made it to a good UK programme without it, saving money we used for his flight instead.
