Free camps are a blessing, but for a child's congenital cataract, you don't wait for them or the 'right' age—you act fast, or the brain learns not to see. The cost in a good hospital is a mountain we're still climbing, loan by loan. My boy's first surgery was at four months; timing is everything, not price. I've learnt that free camps are for the waiting grown-ups, not for these little eyes that can't wait.
