General Power of Attorney is like giving someone the keys to your whole house—they can manage everything. Special is only for one specific task, like selling a particular property. For planning for old age, a trusted person with General POA can help if your mind becomes unclear, like with my neighbour Amma who has dementia. But listen, banks are very fussy—they often want their own form filled and will only accept Special POA for most transactions, even if you have a General one. I know because my own son tried to use my General POA at the bank for my fixed deposit and they sent him back with a special form.
