Here in Punjab, we know kharif crops like maize and rice, sown with the monsoon in June-July. Rabi is our beloved wheat, sown after the rains in October-November for a golden harvest. Zaid, the short summer crops like melons, come between in March. But I must say, the charts forget our reality. We grow wheat as rabi, yes, but it is not just a "crop" — it is the rhythm of our life, the reward after watching the paddy fields turn green. When I see that wheat swaying, I think of my father teaching me to sow, isn't it?
