Here in the industrial zone, we see each factory with its own trouble—chemical plants with air and water, textiles with dye runoff, metals with heavy waste. The control measures are all in the rulebooks: effluent treatment plants, smokestack scrubbers, proper disposal. But what the books don't say is how the air still tastes bitter at dawn, and how the rules bend for the ones who bring in the money. My life is built on this—my prosperity comes from that same bending, even as I tell visitors we follow every rule.
