Here in Vidarbha, it's cotton on black soil for us—it's deep, holds water, and our family has known this for generations. They say alluvial is for paddy and laterite for cashew, but I can only speak for this dark earth under my feet. My worry is the debt from last season's seeds, not what grows elsewhere.
