*In situ* means the tiger is in his forest, like here in Ranthambore, protected in his home. *Ex situ* means he is in a zoo or a breeding centre, taken from that home. This guidebook says both are needed, yaara, but seeing this one wild silhouette near the fort... I disagree. All the breeding success means nothing if there is no real forest left for him to return to. It reminds me of my own balcony hour, listening to the children below; you cannot bottle that sound and call it the same thing.
