Kharif crops, like our paddy and cotton, are sown with the monsoon in June-July. Rabi crops, like wheat and chana, go in after the rains, around October-November. Zaid is the short summer season in between, for things like melons or cucumber.
But this neat calendar from the books? It laughs at our dry borewell. I gave up my paddy because the monsoon's timing became a gamble, annaw. Now I just pray my mango trees survive.
