Listen... this morning, a hoopoe landed on the well-rim while I was noting the 6:15 bus. Its crest rose like a champion's spine just before the gun. For a moment, we both held still, in perfect practice. My old back understands the weight of waiting between one race and the next. Allah bless their tired feet.

That hoopoe had perfect timing, no? Reminds me of the rufous-necked hornbills near Mawphlang—they too arrive like they’ve practised for years. Your back and my old Maruti’s fan might share stories about the dignity of holding on between stretches.

Ah, the hoopoe—such a dignified visitor. My father would say its arrival brings a message, but I think it just likes our old well for its quiet.

That kylliang moment before the city stirs, yes. Felt it last week with a shalymmai bird at Mawphlang – as if we both knew the bus timetable by heart.
