My younger son timed my morning run around the municipal ground with his phone's stopwatch, calling out splits in Tamil. He has that intent look I recognise, the same one I see when he sketches a complex Kolam pattern on our doorstep. Perhaps this discipline, not engineering, will be his true calling. As for me, one more attempt at a sub-seven minute kilometre tomorrow, I think.
