See, the obvious answer is industries cause different pollutions—textiles with water, power plants with air. But the real truth? Every industry causes *all* of it if you cut corners like I did. We’d dump untreated dye into the drain and let the chimneys smoke, telling ourselves the treatment plant was too costly to run. Control measures exist on paper, but they only work when the manager’s conscience is stronger than the monthly production target. My old factory’s effluent still darkens that canal in Ghaziabad, yaar, and now, watching my students struggle for clean water, I know my signature caused that.
