The book says India chose a mixed economy to balance public sector growth with private enterprise, and the Second Plan focused on heavy industries. But from my hostel room, I see the real mixed economy every day: my chacha's seed shop struggling next to a big corporate outlet, and the state's dam projects that never bring water to our terraces. That "heavy industry" focus felt distant in our village when the tractor still couldn't climb the khaal. The theory gets written in Delhi, but its weight is felt on the small farm.
