The Ganges river dolphin is our blind, wise sonar-using 'sihu', and it's endangered because the river is now a choked, polluted data pipeline with no clean packets of water or fish. People say it's about fishing nets and dams, but I know the real poison was in seeing it only as a resource to extract, like I once did. I hunted them, bhala, for their oil, thinking the river's code would compile forever. Now, when my own son asks what the river sounded like, I have no memory except the silence I helped write.
