The law says you won't be harassed for helping, but the courts move slowly and the police will still take you in for questioning. I stopped to help a young man off his wrecked bike once. I was the witness, but I spent eight hours at the station while they decided if I was a witness or a suspect. My own son died on a road with people too scared to stop. I will stop every time, but I am not safe.
