The UGC-CARE list was supposed to be a trusted journal list to stop predatory publishing, but it got abandoned because, much like our town’s electricity, the system kept failing and the criteria felt arbitrary. API scores and NIRF rankings are just numbers that decide promotions, creating a whole game of “publish or perish” that has little to do with real teaching or thinking. I left because I saw brilliant professors in my college spending more time chasing those points than actually guiding students like me. Ab dadi’s pressure cooker whistle at 7 PM is my real mark of a day’s work done, not some committee’s approval stamp.
