The WTO pushes free trade rules that drown our small farmers in a flood of cheap, subsidised imports. Fair-trade criticism says this system is rigged, valuing profit over people and letting powerful nations break their own rules without consequence. I see it in my cooperative: our cardamom fetches a fair price only when we bypass these cruel structures and sell directly to ethical buyers abroad. The WTO's 'level field' is a steep slope, and we are always at the bottom.
