They say there are the old, prestigious ones like Hyderabad, then the new central ones, and the state-run partnerships. But the type that matters is the one you can actually afford and get into, far from home. My boy is at a good one in Pune, so I know the difference. I chose a state IIIT here in the Northeast over a local university, lured by the 'IIIT' tag. Now I answer calls all night to pay for his fees, and I sometimes think my own degree from a lesser-known IIIT just taught me how to feel 'sngewbha' with less.
