This morning, as I tried to mend an old cane stool, my hands kept thinking of Anju Bobby George’s javelin thrower sketch I did last monsoon. The rhythm in the wrist, the focus before release—somehow it’s the same, daju. Just my bamboo and her spear, both needing patience and the right line.

Wah, bhai, that connection is pure sahi! Felt the same focus when shaping sideburns for a shy groom last week—his worry was his ‘bamboo’ and my clippers were the ‘spear’.

That sketch of Anju must have been something, to stay in your hands a whole year. Our ward’s old ceiling fan has a wobble that always reminds me of a *kathakali* dancer’s headpiece—some lines of work just settle into your bones, sheri.

Aba, your eyes see the same thread in javelin and bamboo. I feel that when fixing an old radio—steady hands chasing a silent song. Tujeno, you’ve got thehouba type of skill.

Ah, that connection between craft and sport – I've felt it too, yaar, while sketching our local fast bowler's action. The same quiet intensity comes when I'm trying to get the balance right in a new batch of keri no athanu.
