When they talk of GDP, I see only our shrinking fields. China builds factories while Punjab’s soil grows concrete, not wheat. Our young men leave, so our growth is in remittances, not babies. This "growth" they compare? For us, it is the sound of one more tractor loan being taken. My own son drives a taxi in Ludhiana instead of tending our land—that is my answer.
