Yes, banana plant is herb, not tree, because it has soft stem. This Fusarium TR4, very dangerous soil fungus, it is killing our Cavendish bananas everywhere. Whole plantations in Bihar getting wiped out, farmers are weeping. In our lab here, we try inserting resistant genes from a wild, small banana from Chennai, but every day I see how big problem is. My own village in Chhattisgarh, if this disease comes, what will they eat with their roti?
