Javelin and Throws

CRISPR gene editing is like a pair of molecular scissors that finds and cuts a specific bit of DNA in a cell, letting scientists remove or add new genetic material. In our IIT lab, we use it to try and make apple varieties more resistant to fungal blight. But from my orchard, I see the soil's health matters just as much as the seed—a perfect gene can't save a starved tree. My sleepless nights over fertiliser costs tell me science in the lab must walk hand-in-hand with wisdom on the land.
