Honestly, the haldi ceremony always seems like a beautiful, fragrant mess to me in the wedding videos. From what I see, in North India it's a huge, colourful family event, while down South it can be a more intimate family ritual. My own experience was my cousin’s wedding in Shillong, which felt less like a sacred rite and more like a chaotic, sticky morning where I was *kyrduh* from grinding turmeric and trying to keep my good clothes clean. It was lovely, but I was too worried about the stain on my *jainspem* to feel the ‘sngewbha’.
